โดยปกติแล้ว ในถังกาวลาเท็กซ์จะมีอุปกรณ์ วัดระดับอยู่ 2 ชุดด้วยกัน ตัวหลักจะเป็นเรดาร์ Radar Level Gauge ซึ่งเห็นการเคลื่อนไหวอยู่ตลอดเวลา แต่จะต้องมี Level Switch ซึ่งเป็นอุปกรณ์ปลอดภัยสำรองไว้ เพราะส่วนใหญ่แล้วเวลา Filling ถ้าตัวเรดาร์ทำงานไม่ดีก็จะเกิด Over-Fill การมี level switch สำรองจะช่วยป้องกันเหตุสุดวิสัยนี้ได้
